Why Madison Ave Doesn't Want Your Domains
Buried within a comment on a different subject on Mike Berkens blog, Stephen Douglas makes this great observation: "No ad agency wants their client to buy a $1million domain name that will continually bring in eyeballs when the ad agency itself is charging the company ten times that much to bring in eyeballs for an average of 60 days through mainstream media. That’s why you always see totally stupid domain names combined with ads for large companies, and the domain names are actually just promoting the ad campaign’s theme. Ad agencies need to find a way to make money with domains. Nobody has showed them how to do this."

Thanks for the catch on that comment, Owen.
However, I've been stating this on my blog and on forums for years, especially back when Rick S was focusing on bringing in Madison Avenue to his 2006? TRAFFIC conference in NY. But back then, I was just an obnoxious upstart even though I had been a domainer since 1999.
Through tall tales, nasty commentaries, stupidly angry forum posts, subsequent apologies, a few good points made along with a string of successes, I'm now upgraded to an obnoxious "insider".
Truth be told, I've really arrived since you mentioned my name! Thanks! My friends (and detractors) will all be moaning over this for weeks.
