Tis The Season: Frank Schilling Bets $90K To Make Hay Where The Sun Shines

Frank Schilling's NAMedia is the new owner of BlackFridaySales.com in direct competition with his pal Kevin Ham's Black Friday.com. I know that I got both moguls attention the past two years with posts challenging them to move towards customer capture and remarketing with headlines like "As Christmas Approaches, Schilling and Ham Stand To Lose Billions." Ironically I presented this argument to Frank in 2005 on Rick's board but the sentiment was who cares when you can buy type-in domains and make enormous passive revenue. Well that's changed. And they have too. I couldn't be happier.

"Ever hear the phrase "Make hay when the sunshines"? There are PLENTY of seasonal businesses that folks only work a few weeks a year and make enough to live on for the rest of the year. Selling christmas trees, pumkins, halloween costumes, fireworks etc. ChristmasCarols.com may get more traffic in the next 30 days than many sites do in a year. Edwin, I'll go check it out! Any other sponsor suggestions out there?" Domain King 2000

Sedo is reporting that the the domain name blackfridaysales.com has sold for $90,000.

It appears to be have been registered to Frank Schilling’s Name Administration for the last couple of days.

Black Friday is the name given to the day after Thanksgiving in the US, when pre-Christmas sales traditionally kick off. This year, it falls on November 26.

The operator of the domain blackfriday.com, which was a 2001 $10 hand registration, says it received over 18 million unique visitors last year, and that 70% of them were direct type-in visits.

So this year Frank Schilling will make hay where the sun shines. And the sun always shines on domains.
