Pad (.com) Goes on The Pad

The growing popularity of pad devices and tablet devices has recently enticed the owners of Pad.com to reconsider their plans for the domain name. After having run Pad.com as their company’s site for over two decades, they have decided to release this premium domain name and sell it in auction to the highest bidder, starting in auction on March 26, 2011.

Like a fine wine, Pad.com is rare and aged. With an original creation date of December 5th 1990, the three letter domain is over 20 years old. A rare antique and an artifact literally from the very early days of the Internet. The domain name has been used as the website for a boutique company entitled "Pad Business Solutions". While "PAD" has many meanings in many industries, this business solutions company previously decided to brand itself using this word because PAD happens to be the initials of the owner. The owner is moving on, and is passing the torch. The current owner hopes to see the domain name be used for any company in any related "Pad" industry.

You can probably think of many uses for the domain name, such as Pad meaning a Home, like a Bachelor Pad. The domain could therefore be an international real estate destination. How about a helicopter pad construction company, or a launch pad for ideas. Other uses could be for a sanitary pad company such as Kotex, Playtex, Poise, Always, Stayfree, and the list goes on. How about a name for a Thai eatery, Pad meaning fried Thai food (pad Thai). The domain could be used for a mouse pad company. Did you know that the mouse pad in the future will be touchscreen. One other use would be for a pad company as in padding, such as elbow pads, knee pads, other sporting goods pads... and also carpet pad, and the list really goes on. And of course, surely in today’s rapidly changing times, when terms like "My Pad" and "iPad" are becoming more and more popular as synonyms to the precious personal electronic devices we all either already have, or wish to have, this domain name can easily become THE destination site for all kinds of Pad devices.

With it’s current reserve price, this generic domain is a safe and sure investment that will do really good to any one of the largest pad and tablet companies. A representative from Bido stated: "The one buyer who will be the quickest to realize the promising potential here is going to have for themselves a great win, and gain an unfair advantage over their competition, in whatever industry they happen to be in. The PAD name is highly brandable and memorable without a doubt. It's such a cliché, but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire rights to the PAD.com name, and depending on who buys it in our auction, the name may never be for sale again, at any price.".

The Bido representative continued, "With an appraised value of $268,000 USD, the current reserve of $90,000 USD (ninety thousand), is a reserve price that is low enough to entice bidders to participate." The auction company Bido.com feels that this asset is a rock solid investment for any prospective purchaser. But this precious gem will likely land in the hands of one of the world’s largest corporations. Companies such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Motorola, Samsung, Quaduro, bModo, Neofonie, BestBuy, Fujitsu, Axiotron, Dixons, Asus, ATT, IBM, RIM, ZTE, HP, LG, and Dell, just to name a few, are all natural prospects and potential buyers, and are welcome to participate. But they must act fast because the domain will sell to the highest bidder.

The auction for exclusive ownership rights to the Pad.com domain name starts p rights to the Pad.com domain name starts on March 26, 2011 at 3:30 pm EST and runs for 4 days. Visit http://Bido.com/Pad.com to participate or just watch the auction.
