This time it's going to be different I think. because the company is unlike any other that had tried this space before, a player from the Sotheby and Christies worlds, led by one of the industry's most reputable and successful figures.
And so Aron Meystedt is right guy in the right place at the right time to bring the world’s third largest auction house into the domain industry.
Heritage Auctions in Dallas, Texas will hold a premium domain name auction event in November. Says Aron, “Heritage has over 800,000 client bidders who are seeking unique investment opportunities, and we feel domain names match up perfectly with their needs.”
Aron also shared, "That’s the goal – to get hold of the traditional investor and educate them on why domains are a home run as a store of value. We have 850,000 clients – so that’s a good start. PLUS, we are going to PR the event heavily. It has a lot of potential to bring the people we need to our industry. I just have to get it off the ground the right way."
"For this first auction, I am seeking names that I can sell to investor type buyers. LL and LLL domains and one word category names are preferred. We will be holding a premium domain name auction and event in November. It will run online for three weeks and it will culminate with a live auction and event in NY or Dallas (most likely NY for added press coverage)."
"I will be consigning 50-75 very good premium domains to sell to our investor base and end users. Our marketing and PR teams are amazing and this event will be promoted VERY well. Fees are 15% from the seller and 15% from the buyer."
I think the names that will sell are:
- one word products / services etc
There will be the usual naysayers but I say just give them a shot. Sit back and observe for this first round. Sign up for updates on buying and selling HERE

headline-making, jaw-dropping sales are the norm rather than exception
Collecting valuable objects uniquely rewards owners with beauty, history, personal satisfaction, and much more. Unfortunately new collectors often overpay and become disillusioned, while inexperienced owners and heirs routinely receive too little when selling. For collecting to become a more credible and widespread vehicle for wealth creation, the playing field between experts and novices must be leveled.
At Heritage Auctions, we believe information can and should be available to all, transactions made more transparent, trading friction reduced and the learning curve made less steep and less expensive for new collectors and sellers.
