If you're looking for someone to work on your car, would you choose a guy who works on cars all day long or a guy who works on cars part time, while he paints houses and mows lawns the rest of the time? Exactly. Don’t spread yourself too thin, focus on what it is you want to do and get better at it.

Lean manufacturing can single-handedly save the life of your manufacturing business. It focuses on increasing efficiency, productivity, and speed by optimizing time management and process design. Not only will your production increase, but your labor costs will decrease and this will help your business to run as efficiently as possible. Efficiency is money.

Prioritize Quality
It isn’t necessary to sacrifice an arm or a leg for quality. If done correctly, you can easily achieve a high quality standard, while maintaining high production. Prioritizing a solid quality check process and quality department will help to take some of the work off of your hands. Running your company with a low defect rate will ensure a good name for your business and high demand for your product. Over time, the money and time spent on quality assurance will pay for itself. 

Customer Service
Your customer is your life blood. Making them happy and keeping them happy is the best way to ensure their future business. Make sure you have guarantees and return policies in practice that guarantee satisfaction. Provide easy access for your customers to contact you concerning your product and always consider their comments and suggestions. In manufacturing, where word of mouth can be your biggest marketing strategy, keeping your customers happy is the number one way to earn more business. 

We all have to start out somewhere. Making a few minor mistakes in your first years is bound to happen. However, if you keep your focus, practice efficient production, provide a quality product, and maintain a happy customer base, you’re bound to succeed and grow.
