Google Quietly Kills Google Alerts

Tell me this can't be true but word on the street is they will go with reader. Why is it always the most useful and valuable things they cut? Why do they add steps and complexity to interfaces? It's only to accommodate ads and when the product can't work-in ads, it has no value in their eyes.

Why not charge for services that deliver value and screw trying to monetize eyeballs aka Yahoo 2000?

Ask RICK if this didn't lead to the dotCOM bust and is the reason for Yahoos decade of stumble and decline!
