The U.S. Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has awarded Neustar® the contract to continue operating the .US Top Level Domain (.US), the official country code domain of the United States, for up to 10 years, until 2029.

Neustar has successfully administered this critical Internet infrastructure since 2001, when the Department of Commerce selected the company to launch and manage the .US domain.

Like the United States itself, .US was built on the ideals of innovation and inclusion. Among the world’s most stable and secure domains, .US is the web address of choice for anyone with a dream to chase, idea to share, cause to champion, or business to promote. With more than two million domain names under management, .US will continue to be supported by Neustar’s award-winning infrastructure, team and experience, which is continually advancing from ongoing investment and product innovation.

Dot US is my own personal favorite domain. And one of the few dotCOM options that is still reasonably priced, and is not a crap shoot. It has unlimited potential and a solid base to grow from.

One day I got an email from a client's personal account. Noticing his use of dot US, I asked why. He replied he sees it as more personal than a Gmail address, and a sign of expressing patriotism and pride in the USA.

I already had corporate dotCOM accounts but I jumped in too. I remembered in the old days when I was out of business cards, I had a standard retort: "I'm not hard to find. I'm listed, and the only Owen Frager you'll find in the United States." So Dot US already had meaning ingrained in the hearts and minds of my network.

Now I am see Dot US everywhere, especially hosting cities, towns, and police departments. In fact, I pay my water bill, and renew my annual dog park, and beach, parking permits to a Dot US site.

Even Megan Rapinoe, U.S. Women’s Soccer Captain and arguably a national hero after the team’s recent World Cup win, uses a .US domain for her “soccer and performance training and lifestyle apparel business” at www.rapinoe.us

Patriotism and pride of place do sell in this world of ours and gives the Dot Us extension a real chance of growth.
